About Me
Hi there! Welcome to my shop -- I'm excited you're here.
My name is Allison and I'm the creator of Side Piecez. I'm Alaska based but my roots are in the midwest. My mom is the one who taught me to sew on a Huskystar 229, the machine I still sew on. ((Meanwhile, my mom has upgraded and is the proud owner of multiple machines: embroidery, serger, straight stitch, and a Baby Lock. I do have a Serger but I'm afraid of it...))
My first sewing class was at Joann Fabrics (rest in piece) and I learned how to make a cat tie-sleeping bag. A quilt that I still have! Many many years later, I'm still sewing. What started as dog collar covers and doll clothes has evolved into bags, masks during COVID, baby banners, pillow cases, mittens, stockings, baskets, quilts, and more. I've even hemmed a bridesmaid dress or two (not my specialty at all).
I have an addiction to fabric and zippers, although I detest cutting said fabric. My favorite tool is my rotary cutter and my least favorite is the seam ripper (IYKYK). For now, I'm just selling bags but who knows -- with time, other things may pop up. Stay tuned!
